Dr Vincent Maphai

Deputy Chairman

Dr Vincent Maphai is the Chairman of the Sibanye-Stillwater Board. He is a non-executive director of Discovery Limited and Chairman of Discovery Life, Discovery Health and Stadio. Previously, Dr Maphai was the Director of Corporate Affairs and Transformation at SAB. In addition, he served as the southern African Chairperson of BHP Billiton and Chaired SABC, Rand Mutual Assurance Company.

Dr Maphai has accumulated 20 years’ experience in the academic profession, and 15 years as a senior executive in the private sector. He has served on the boards of various companies as non-executive chairperson, including the SABC and the Presidential Review Commission into the restructuring of the public sector. Dr Maphai has also held a two-year academic position at Williams College in Massachusetts.

He was Chairman of the Presidential Review Commission, a body set up by then president Nelson Mandela to investigate government restructuring and service delivery.
